About Me

Betsey Klueber has learned many new things throughout her first year in Frank McCourt High School. As a student coming from Delta Honors Middle School, what she expected in high school was not the reality. Betsey had assumed that she would not be challenged academically, but it turns out she faces a new challenge every day. Working hard to get good grades in school has always been a main priority for Betsey, as is helping others around her.
Starting this past September, she has joined Frank McCourt High School’s Build0n team, which is an organization to raise money and help out with the community. This has mainly involved helping out together at a homeless shelter near the school, whether that means cleaning or preparing or cooking for the guys. She realizes when doing community service, especially with her friends and school community around her, that if can be fun and really pay off in the end. Some other community service Betsey has done was working for Guiding Eyes for the Blind, which is a walk that raises money for giving blind people guide dogs. Ever since she was seven she has been funding every year and so far has raised over 4,000 dollars in total for the cause.
Throughout Betsey's entire life, school work and getting good grades have been something she had to work very hard at. She is always working so hard in science and math, and making sure she understands everything in these classes. One memory that really stands out from freshman year to Betsey was the community service with her advisory. She loved to teach little kids, and she believed it was one of the greatest bonding experiences she had with her advisory the entire year. Teaching them was also a great experience with the kids, and it was so much fun. This experience taught Betsey that working together can really pay off, and can even influence others to achieve something as well.
When Betsey was younger, she always wanted to be just like her older sister Deni. She ended up doing all the same things as Deni, and she even went to the same school as her until High School. When her sister was about 12, she decided to quit soccer. However, by the time Betsey was 12 she didn’t want to quit. She loved playing very much. Now Betsey's been playing soccer for 11 years, and every year she can’t wait to kick off the next season with her teammates. Soccer is one of Betsey's favorite outdoor hobbies, but one of her favorite things to do is sing. She's been apart of many choirs, at her school, after-school clubs, and church. She also play piano as well as a little guitar. Betsey really loves music, and she feels like it is the best way to express herself.
