Local Voices Essay
This sample should be included in my portfolio because it shows my growth i my writing skills. My strengths were organizing my information in an appropriate way, and completing all aspects of the task. my weaknesses were using specific connotative language that corresponded to the text. I have been getting better grades on project work in writing because I work hard to make sure i'm following the task. Some of my goals for this project are working on description and connotative language. Overall, this project shows that I work hard to understand what my teacher is teaching me and use it in my own ways to express my writing.

These pieces of work together create a project that I worked very hard on. It shows that I was able to read and understand a novel, then by using my own perspective and knowledge, I created my version of the mind of a character in the story. I learned from this topic the whole story of the Dominican Revolution, specifically the Mirabal sisters, and what they had to go through with Trujillo. My strengths of this project were that since I enjoyed doing it, I worked very hard to put it together. My weaknesses were probably not completely revising my journal entries before I submitted them. One thing I still need to work on was expressing the Mirabal's sisters significance in the revolution, and why did their roles affect many people in the country. Overall, this piece shows that i could learn from a piece of text to influence how I wrote my story, and by learning from the book I was able to create an artifact that reflected a character from the story.
Progression of Science Exams
Outcomes:
LE3- Body systems. Explains how the body maintains homeostasis
Regents Readiness- Student exhibits preparedness to take the Regents Exam through assessments.
LE7- Cell biology. Describes and explains the functions of cellular organelles, chemical reactions and forms of transport.
From these two exams, it shows I was able to understand the information more. This should be included in my portfolio because it displays my development. I worked hard to make sure that the next exam I would be able to demonstrate my ability to understand the information. The unit 6 exam compared to my mid-term grades are very different. my unit 6 exam was much better, because i worked hard to study and made sure I understood the material. Last year, I didn't know much about either of these topics, and this year in science I have learned so many new things about biology. One thing I still need to work on is reviewing my exams. Even though I can't revise them or re-take them, I should go over it to make sure that I understand the material. Overall, these two pieces of work really show my growth as a student.
